Wilmslow is an affluent town located in Cheshire and is one of the most sought after places to live in the UK after central London. Just 11 miles south of Manchester City Centre, Wilmslow has a population of approximately 30,326, lying between affluent Alderley Edge and Handforth, where approximately another 8,000 people reside.
The area has a wide variety of quality housing for buyers and tenants to choose from.
In particular there is an excellent choice of larger semi-detached and detached family homes with generous gardens and ample off road parking.
Focused upon Bank Square, Water Lane and the pedestrianised Grove Street, Wilmslow’s lifestyle restaurants span flavours from Mediterranean to Far Eastern. Also serving great food but more centred around the vibrant nightlife are bars and restaurants. Cafes and coffee shops are also plentiful.
7 local primary schools of Wilmslow Academy Ashdene, Gorsey Bank, Lindow, Lacey Green, St Anne's Fulshaw and Styal feed Wilmslow High School and St James' Catholic High School. There are excellent independents in the area including Pownall Hall and Wilmslow Preparatory. Neighbouring Handforth has 2 primary schools, Handforth Grange and St Benedict's. Nearby Mobberley is served by Mobberley C of E Primary School. The local schools are a major ‘pull’ to the area for many families; school performance, league tables and reports can be found by visiting Ofsted. Some of the very best independent schools in the country are located within the locality.
Wilmslow plays host to a variety of high-end retail stores and boutique independent retailers. Hoopers department store is best known for luxury fashion, beauty, homewares and gifts. Wilmslow town centre is served by Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Co-op supermarkets and a Tesco Express, whilst the A34 provides easy access by car to Tesco, Marks and Spencer, John Lewis and Sainsbury’s superstores.
Manchester International Airport is located only 4 miles away and Wilmslow Train Station provides an hourly service to London Euston in 2.5 hours. Manchester City Centre is accessible in 20 minutes, whilst hourly services run to both Shrewsbury and Cardiff. The A34 bypass serves the town, extending beyond neighbouring Alderley Edge and also joining the A555 towards Manchester Airport. Wilmslow is easily accessible via M60 and M6 motorways and local buses are plentiful.
The Wilmslow area falls under the management of East Cheshire County Council.
